Hawaii Kai III recorded a competition lap of 105.479 in heat 2-B, but since only two boats started this heat it is felt that this lap is not as significant with regard to the U-8 as another lap of 102.984.

Maverick, even though not eligible to run in the final heat, was voted in by the drivers and finished second. She received a DSQ for her trouble.

The day after the race a mile trial was made by the Miss Wayne. With Saile at the wheel Miss Wayne went through the trap at 124.423 and 121.580. Later Jack Regas of Hawaii Kai took the wheel and he made passes at 163.8, 156.8 and 145 m.p.h.
