New Hydro For The Western Circuit [1966]

Bob Fendler, Los Angeles attorney who piloted his U-19 Miss San Diego on the western circuit in 1965, has acquired the U-80 Blue Chip from Paul Gordon of Detroit and plans to campaign her as a second boat on the western half of the national circuit in 1966.

Blue Chip is powered by an Allison engine while Miss San Diego will be powered by a Rolls-Merlin. Mr. Fendler plans to campaign Blue Chip at Coeur d'Alene, Ida.; Seattle and Tri-City, Wash.; Folsom, Calif.; San Diego; Kelowna; B.C. and Lake Tahoe.

For those who are looking for new racing opportunities Bill Sterett and Jim Hay of Kentucky are now working on an unlimited class hydroplane powered by two Chrysler hemis in tandem. The hull is 29 feet long and was designed by Henry Lauterbach. The lines are similar to that of Lauterbach's earlier boat for Sterett, Miss Crazy Thing.

Bill Sterett has a formidable racing record including the APBA National Inboard Championship in 7-litre class.
