1908 Cowes Regatta

British Motor Boat Club

The British Motor Boat Club's races at Cowes began yesterday, when the following events were decided:—

First Race, for Cabin Cruisers, 23 ½ knots -- Sphinx (Captain Dixon) 1. Napier Major (Mr. S. F. Edge) 2. My Lady Ada (Mr. H. J. Preston) 3.

Second Race, for boats exceeding 10 knots, 27 sea miles -- Brooke II (Mr. Mawdesley Brooke) 1, winning the Dewar Cup and miniature; Defender (Mr. F. May) 2, Gyrinius (Mr. T. Thornycroft) 3.

Third Race, boats exceeding 10 knots, 18 sea miles -- Brooke II (Mr. Mawdesley Brooke) 1, Defender (Mr. F. May) 2, Gyrinius (Mr. T. Thornycroft) 3.

Fourth Race, boats not exceeding 10 knots, nine sea miles -- Carissina (Mr. C. Grahame White) 1, Maudslay I (Mr. C. C. Maudslay) 2, Napier Major (Mr. S. F. Edge) 3.
