British Motor-Boat Club

The British Motor-Boat Club’s race meeting at Ramsgate began yesterday with four events, which were decided in fine weather. The sea was a little lumpy, but not enough to spoil the racing. In the 14-knots contest for cabin cruisers, for the cup presented by the Borough of Ramsgate, Mr. L. M. Waterhouse’s Major was first, Mr. E. H. White’s Lethe being second, Mr. A. J. Wilson’s Splash third, and Baron von Bissing’s Hova fourth. Only two boats had entered for the 40-footers 18-knots race for the Wilson Challenge Trophy and Cup. Victory went to Mr. F. May’s Defender I, Mr. Mawdsley Brooke’s Baby IV giving up. The 15 miles race for boats exceeding 12 knots also ended in one boat finishing alone, that vessel being Mr. L. M. Waterhouse’s Secret, Mr. F. May’s Defender I and II retiring. In the nine miles race for boats under 12 knots Mr. H. Norfolk’s Tabasco was first and Mr. White’s Lethe second.
