( The three point hydroplane, which had its beginnings daring the World War I era from the designs of George Crouch, was further developed by the Ventnor Boat Company by Adolph Apel - a World War I era designer who had utilized a multiple point design during that period - and his son Arno. The design was first utilized in the 225 class which had its beginnings in 1934. Tops II* made history by matching and defeating Ma-Ja II, a Gold Cupper which had won the President's Cup in 1936.)
