Detroit, Aug. 23.—(UP) — Bandleader Guy Lombardo has informed race officials that he will pilot his Tempo VI in the Detroit Silver Cup powerboat regatta on the Detroit River Aug. 30-Sept. 1.
The Labor Day feature Silver Cup race is expected to be the biggest powerboat event of the year.
It will be Lombardo’s first appearance on the Detroit River course since he won the Gold Cup trophy here in 1946. The bandleader failed in his defense of the championship in the Gold Cup renewal at New York earlier this year.
