My Sweetie Entered

Contenders for top trophies in both Sweepstakes and Gold Cup events are the My Sweetie, 1949 International Gold Cup winner, owned by Horace E. Dodge; Tempo VI, owned and driven by band leader Guy Lombardo; La-Ha-La, Harry Lynn, Lake Hopatcong, N.J.; Etta, George Sarrant, Freeport, L.I.; Aljo VI, Joseph Van Blerck, Freeport; So Long II, Lou Fageol, Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, and any number of smaller inboards.

Lombardo, whose sleek cabin cruiser is expected to be anchored at the west end of the race course, appears the popular local choice to do battle with the champion My Sweetie which will be driven by Ben Cranfield [(sic) Bill Cantrell].

Lombardo, 1946 winner, will steer his own craft. Van Blerck, last year’s winner in his 225 cu. in. Aljo V when competition disintegrated, is entered in the seven litre former So Long which the Freeport boat builder recently bought from Fageol. The latter has a new boat.
