Lap - Slo-mo-shun IV 102.676

The Harmsworth Trophy was a contest between nations with each nation allowed a three boat team. The selection was a judgment call with qualification speed being not necessarily determinative. Such Crust II was selected as the #3 boat due to her reliability. Miss Pepsi and Miss Great Lakes were passed by since the committee felt this factor was lacking. Stan Sayres was originally slated to drive Slo-mo-shun IV, but pressure from his family and insurance company dissuaded him. Gold Cup driver Ted Jones had injured his hand hence the selection of Lou Fageol.
