First United States Event
First United States event of the season for unlimited hydroplanes comes this Saturday in the Detroit Memorial trophy regatta on the Detroit River.
Most of the speedsters which will enter the Gold Cup race on August 8 at Seattle, Wash., are expected to compete.
Sponsored by the Windmill Pointe Yacht club, the 45-mile test will be run on a three-mile course with three heats of 15 miles each.
Detroit's Lee Schoenith. whose Gale V won the Canadian Maple Leaf trophy at Windsor. Ont., last week will be out to make it two in a row.
