1954 Lake Tahoe Championship

Kaiser Entry Wins Tahoe Boat Race

CHAMBERS LODGE, Lake Tahoe — Hitting a top speed of approximately 80 miles per hour on the straightaways, Jack Regas drove Henry Kaiser's hydroplane, Scooter, to first place in the annual Lake Tahoe championship race.

Timed at five minutes, 21 and 8/10 seconds on a six mile course, the Scooter got the checkered flag ahead of R. Stanley Dollar, driving his own Short Snorter in the event for the Gold Cup class boats. Roger Murphy of Piedmont, driving a 225 cubic inch hydro, the Galloping Gael, finished third.

Another Kaiser entry the Ruthless, dropped out of the race with engine trouble.

Kaiser did his own driving to win in the stock class race for boats measuring 25 feet or longer. His entry was the Lemme Go First.
