The regatta was originally scheduled for October 8-9, but had to be postponed due to a driftwood hazard as a result of a rising river. On the second day of the regatta the water was rough and Tempo VII, a light boat, lost a good deal of her speed advantage over the other boats. Miss U.S. led Tempo VII for three laps of heat 1-A demonstrating a speed capability close to the all conquering Guy Lombardo entry.
