1989 Pringle's Family Thunderboat Classic
Motors on water
Powerboat racing will come to Onondaga Lake in Syracuse this weekend at the Syracuse Pringle’s Family Thunderboat Classic.
The feature race for the unlimited hydroplane boats — which skim across the water at more than 150 mph — will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday. Qualifying will be held on the two-mile course today and Saturday.
Jim Kropfeld steered the Miss Budweiser boat to victory last summer at Syracuse, but he may not be driving the boat this weekend. Kropfeld was injured last month during the Spirit of Detroit Trophy race at Detroit.
