FRIDAY: Andrew Tate in the U-9 Delta Realtrac grabbed the top qualifying spot over Jimmy Shane's U-1 Miss Homestreet on Friday. J. Michael qualified third in the U-12 Graham Trucking with Tom Thompson in the U-11 DiJulio presents Miss J&D's in fourth. Jimmy King's U-3 Grigg's ACE Hardware and rookie Bert Henderson's U-7 Spirit of Detroit filled out the qualifying field. Kevin Eacret's U-99.9 CARSTAR/Miss Rock and Dustin Echols U-440 Bucket List Racing did not qualify.

HEAT 1A: J. Michael Kelly took the win from Jimmy King and Bert Henderson in a tight battle for all three laps. The boats were within 10-12 boats lengths of each other the entire heat.

HEAT 1B: Andrew Tate and Jimmy Shane battled literally deck to deck for all three heats, with Tate never more than a boat length clear of the U-1. It was one of the best races in years! The U-440 was never a factor, having been lapped and succumbing to engine damage that sidelined them for the rest of the day.

HEAT 2A: Tate once again showed the way to the checkered flag with a commanding win over J. Michael Kelly and Jimmy King. Kelly lost the right tail cover after running wide in the Roostertail Turn and sliding into the wake of Tate. King trailed Kelly by more than a roostertail at the finish.

HEAT 2B: Jimmy Shane led Bert Henderson by less than a boat length through two laps but pulled away during lap three to take a comfortable win.

HEAT 3A: This race was over within 10 seconds of the start, as Andrew Tate was way early for the start and let off completely, allowing Jimmy Shane to streak by and pull away for an easy win. The only problem was the start was announced as a "good start, meaning Tate was actually legal and could have battled for the win had he chosen to do so. The U-440 never saw the water - it had withdrawn.

HEAT 3B: Once again a two boat heat, this time with J. Michael Kelly and Bert Henderson, with the U-3 staying on the trailer. Kelly led Henderson comfortably for the entire distance and added another 400 points to his total.

FINAL HEAT: The Final Heat was marred by a collision between Bert Henderson and J. Michael Kelly in the run out of the Roostertail Turn toward the start. Henderson bounced off of Jimmy Shane to his right, spinning to his left into the path of Kelly, who ran over the top of the U-7. Neither Henderson or Kelly were hurt in the incident. The U-12 crew scrambled to repair their boat for the restart, which they made with time to spare. In the restart, Shane led the field wire to wire, with Tate in second and Jimmy King in third. Kelly lost another canard front running through Tate's wake and had a fuel violation, earning a DSQ.
