RACE NOTES

FRIDAY: Jimmy Shane in the U-1 Miss Homestreet grabbed the top qualifying spot over Andrew Tate's U-9 Delta Realtrac in the second qualifying session of the day. Tom Thompson in the U-11 DiJulio presents Miss J&D's had the best qualifying result of his H1 career with a solid third place showing. Jimmy King's U-3 Grigg's ACE Hardware, J. Michael Kelly in the U-12 Graham Trucking and rookie Bert Henderson's U-7 Spirit of Detroit filled out the qualifying field. Kevin Eacret's U-99.9 CARSTAR/Miss Rock was not able to get on plane and Dustin Echols U-440 Bucket List Racing hydro broke a driveline component - both boats did not qualify.

HEAT 1A: Andrew Tate had what seemed like a walk in the park from Bert Henderson and Tom Thompson. Thompson's U-11 when dead in the water after losing a propeller shaft and strut and began taking on water.

HEAT 1B: Jimmy Shane and J. Michael Kelly battled for the first lap, but as Shane was starting to stretch his lead going into lap 3, Kevin Eacret flipped the Miss Rock in front of the Detroit Yacht Club, heavily damaging the rear of the boat and retiring for the weekend. He was not injured in the flip. Jimmy King did not start the heat.

HEAT 2A: Andrew Tate continued to put together heat wins with another relatively easy run from Henderson and Echols.

HEAT 2B: Jimmy Shane took the win over J. Michael Kelly in another two boat heat.

FINAL HEAT: Andrew Tate nailed the start and took the lead from lane 3, taking the President's Cup with a wire to wire win. J. Michael Kelly in lane 1 and Jimmy Shane battled for a lap before Kelly pulled away. Bert Henderson finished fourth and Dustin Echols trailed a lap back to finish fifth.
